Must-See Cities on the West Coast of the USA – Top Picks

Must-See Cities on the West Coast of the USA – Top Picks

This is the last post in a series about must-see cities in the continental United States. My dream has always been to travel to each of the states with the kids. In every region, there are cities and attractions that are not to be missed if you are passing through the area. If you find yourself on the west coast of the country, don’t limit yourself to lounging on the beach, although this is, indeed, a popular and fun way to spend your time. Check out some of these places: Seattle, Washington My kids are avid iCarly fans, and for [...]

Walt Disney World With Teenagers

Walt Disney World With Teenagers

Many of us can relate to the experience of seeing the magic of Mickey Mouse and all of his friends through the eyes of our toddlers and preschoolers. When it comes to teenagers, though, we might think that much of the magic of Walt Disney World may be lost… not so, I’ve found! We have hosted several foreign exchange students, and we’ve had the pleasure of taking two of them to Disney World during their stays. Although we traveled with our own kids as well, who were preschool-aged or in elementary school at the times, our teenage exchange students had [...]

CouchSurfing – Hosting a Family

CouchSurfing – Hosting a Family

I recently signed up with a site called CouchSurfing.org. The premise of the site is that those looking for free lodging can hook up, via Internet, with those who have a couch (or a spare bedroom) available. The point is to provide travelers a way connect with natives in whatever area of the world they’re visiting. Because we have a spare bedroom and because I just love meeting people from other countries, I excitedly signed up to be a host, much to the chagrin of my extended family and circle of friends. “You will get killed in your sleep!” predicted [...]

Must See Cities in the Midwest – USA Family Travel

Must See Cities in the Midwest – USA Family Travel

It’s always been my dream to rent an RV and drive around for a year or so, visiting every state in the continental United States with my family… and while it might be too far or physically impossible to drive to Alaska and Hawaii, respectively, I’d love to to see those states, too! I actually talked to a family who traveled around for three months in an RV, and I look forward to writing about that another time. Right now, though, in keeping with our “must see cities” theme, we’ll continue exploring areas to visit — by RV or not [...]

Must See Cities for Families in The South – USA Travel

Must See Cities for Families in The South – USA Travel

A plan to visit the Southern states may bring thoughts of large plantation estates, Southern belles, and down-home Southern cooking. You can experience old-fashioned Southern hospitality and a relaxed pace of life when you go south of the Mason-Dixon line, and you can take the kids to see some great cities, as well! Here are a few to consider: Asheville, North Carolina Last year, Good Morning America named Asheville as one of the 10 most beautiful places in the United States, and for good reason: the views of the mountains are breathtaking any time of year, and particularly in the [...]

Must-See Cities in The Mid-Atlantic USA Family Travel

Must-See Cities in The Mid-Atlantic USA Family Travel

Historical attractions, theme parks, sprawling beaches, and even a step back in time can be yours to explore when you take the kids to visit some of the cities in the mid-Atlantic states. The nice thing about this region is that none of the cities are very far apart, so it’s feasible to stay in one centrally located area and take a one- or two-day jaunt to another major city with a very different type of entertainment. The mid-Atlantic region can get hot in the summer, though there are sea breezes near the coast. The winters tend to be fairly [...]

Must See Cities in the Western USA for Family Travel

Must See Cities in the Western USA for Family Travel

The American West is a region that I look forward to taking my children to someday! We have not yet had the opportunity to visit this romantic and historical area, but we will some day in the not-too-distant future, I’m sure! They’ll be thrilled by how different the natural surroundings are from what they’re used to, and also by the thought of being so close to ghost towns and cowboys. Here are a few of the places I hope to visit in the Wild West: The Grand Canyon, Arizona You could spend your entire vacation exploring and soaking in the [...]
